Apr 27, 2018 · Hello all, New to the forum here! I have a stage 2+ mk5 gti (great car) and I am about to take the plunge on a 64 plate (2014) mk7 R. Its a 3 door blue DSG in great conditon with 35k on the clock. My main concern with it is the turbo issues that VW had around the time. I believe early 2014 turbos.

Aug 12, 2010 · The launch control mechanism has TWO ways of operation. If you smash the throttle 4200 rpm come up and by letting the gear lever an uncontrolable amount of wheelspin is generated. BUT if you progressively press the throttle to the floor and let go then a fully balanced take off occurs with minimal whilspin. I'd love to know what RPM range you all have tested launching at and what your results have been. Anyone burned up a clutch yet w/o a tune? I have already tweaked my ESC to shut off completely (ASR as well) with a single touch, that's been helpful when making the necessary adjustments quickly at a stop. I have a 2007 Mazda 3, by no means a speed demon, but with it being front wheel drive and manual, I find myself spinning the front tires out whenever I try and take off with any speed at all. If I try and go from 2500-3000 rpm, it spins the wheels out, and if I launch too low, I bog the engine and the launch is slower than optimal.

Sometimes the rear wheels still spin even if it’s the transfer box thats gone, if that’s the case get it on ramps, put it in Park, Handbrake off and try and rotate the prop shaft with a clamp. If it rotates it’s the transfer box. If it don’t most likely somethings up in the rear of the car.

I have seen this even in a decently dry stretch of road. The wheel spin is usually only there till 40-45mph and then does not happen. EDL is still active and will be up to 50 mph on Quattro cars and up to 20 or 25 mph on FWD cars. Launch control take off = copious amounts of wheelspin & smoke in 1st through the Rev range. TC on, rolling start and flooring it in 1st = chirping and TC light flicking throughout the Rev range and a little in 2nd as well. TC off, rolling start and flooring 1st = constant wheelspin and occasional tramping. Some in 2nd as well.

I have used the launch control in my stock RS with PSS tires dozens and dozens of times on the 1/4 mile track and most every road type. Most of the time there is a fraction of a second wheel spin. And I've badly beaten many fast cars off the line at the 1/4 mile track. They often catch me on the big end though. At 1500, I got some wheel spin and a 5.3 second run. At 2000, I got a lot more wheel spin and a 5.7. The 5.7 has so much low end torque and the little 245 tires just can't hold it, so more rpm just makes it worse. Without launch control, I just give it about half throttle to get me rolling and then mash it, gives me a 5.0 almost every time. A stock R shouldn't spin the wheels really, If the front grip is bad because of tyres then it should just prompt the haldex to send power to the back wheels. My stage 1 tune is quite high torque and I sometimes get a split second of wheel spin before it hooks up and goes.

Sep 05, 2006 · yes a vert has launch control as long its SMG. to activate the launch control you cant use the paddles. you have to use the shift knob. as bigali88 said you first have to turn DSC off so you can get to S6 mode. launch control can only work in S6 mode. then you hold the lever (shift knob) forward and press the gas all the way. depending how fast you press the gas will activate which mode you. Bike on centre stand, engine running, clutch dissengaged. If the back wheel is turning very slowly and you can stop it by putting your foot on the tyre (carful now), its fine.. A little clutch drag is normal. If it's spinning fast then your clutch is dragging too much... Also test by sitting on the bike, running, in gear with the clutch pulled in.

I'm not sure it's wheel hop because the car actually tries to spin the wheels when launch starts, as it is its way of measuring traction before adding throttle. That from the instructors at Spring Mountain.... Wheel hop on every single run using launch control. Best 60ft was 1.910. Horrible. My 16 Camaro in hot weather would do high 1.7's. Also concerned about gearbox wear, so not really a fan. Basically It's not like launch control on the AWD cars etc. Tbh I find just mashing the throttle from standstill more effective!. A Porsche is 4wd, so launch control would work just fine. I think we can safely establish that "launch control" on a dsg fwd shouldn't really be a thing and doesn't work. Which leaves 2 options, 1: get a manual and do it all yourself, but your still guna get wheelspin at some point on a fwd.

I have mine set to 18# in 1st gear. I can still get wheel spin but not like from running 21.5 or 23 basemaps w/o lowering it. I have a manual, BTW, but lowering the number in the 1 drop-down will allow you to lower boost in 1st. I recommend you lower it close to the stock level and reevaluate.

Apart from what i think is a problem with the haldex, due to launch control being crap and spinning the wheels which i'm 99.9% sure isn't right (Will be getting a the filter cleaned soon) is the lack of noise from the car in general.
